Episode 42: What Happened That Night?

Clear your schedule because the ladies are bringing you a super long episode this week! Michelle and Sam start the show off by talking about the world of virtual reality and social media. When is it too much? They catch up on tv and Michelle starts watching HBO’s Insecure, starring Issa Rae. You wanted more true crime and the ladies are bringing you just that. Two similar but very different cases. The first is about Lauren Smith-Fields. A 23 year old Black woman, who had everything going for her, was found dead the morning after she had a date over. Lauren's family has had to beg over and over for their local police department to do their job and find out what exactly has happened to their daughter. Lauren's parents believe that if it weren't for Cardi B who tweeted multiple times about Lauren's case, an investigation never would've happened. The second case is about Brianna Maitland. A 17 year old White teenage girl, who disappeared back in 2004, after leaving her job at the Black Lantern Inn. You may've seen the eerie photo online showing Brianna's car being backed into the side of an abandoned house. It was three days later that she was reported missing. Following her disappearance, numerous tips were investigated by state law enforcement, including a claim that Brianna was being held captive in a house occupied by local drug dealers of whom she was an acquaintance.
